Dupeless 2: Track down duplicates and recover valuable disk space
When you install a new hard drive in your machine, or buy a new machine, disk space seems almost unlimited. You start installing new programs, editing documents, downloading MP3s and suddenly, there’s no more space. Part of it is, obviously, all the large files you’ve stored on the system, but even that doesn’t account for where all your storage has gone. Some hard drive investigation leads to the discovery that your disk is filled with duplicate files: the same dll installed by different programs, the same music files, or the same documents are filling your precious hard drive.
You need to clean it, but don’t know how to begin. Dupeless 2 comes to the rescue. It will scan your disks and show all the duplicate files it can find, grouped on the criteria you want: files with the same names and sizes, files with the same sizes (even with different names), and files with the same names, sizes and dates. Your searches can rely on just the file names and sizes to look for duplicates or you can perform a more exhaustive search using the content comparison options. You can even perform content comparisons on files after you’ve completed a search.
